Crimson Hail and the Secrets of Valour — Chapter 9.a: First flight
The three friends stood a few steps outside the communal phaser of Corbis 52 and looked at each other in silence. A question had been asked that the girls knew would come but didn’t want to answer.
‘He left,’ Marx replied after plucking up the courage.
Now if they were in a place where one could come and go as they pleased those words would have made sense, but they were in Scheva, a place that treated them as if they were slaves. Crimson undoubtedly was confused.
‘He left?’
‘Yeah. After we came back, he started acting weird, like something was on his mind. He said he didn’t wanna be around us anymore. At the time we didn’t know what was up with him. We –tried to get him to stay, told him the best thing to do right now was to stay together but he didn’t care. He just–walked off.’
‘You can’t be serious?’ Crimson said in anger. ‘He tried to get me killed, then doesn’t bother to look for me with you two but runs away instead! This is ridiculous!’ he started pacing back and forth in frustration. ‘So, you have no idea where he went?’
‘Last I checked he went up to the roof,’ Marx responded pointing to the top part of the building. ‘Not sure if he’s still there now.’
‘I’ll go and have a look,’ he said walking towards the phaser. ‘Just need to have a word with him if he’s there. I’ll be back soon’. Without looking back, he punched the code to the roof and…
